It's only a Golf. Tell them to get stuffed and go buy something else.
Only when loads of people do this will the price of VWs come down - that's my logic anyway!!!!

I waited just as long. As the old saying goes 'all good good things come to those that wait'
still really like mine...stick with it...however annoying the wait..

I like your logic Andy. I'd work along the same lines myself. The trouble is, I think, that there are too many people with more money than sense. Another thing along the same lines is that people who have a bit of wedge are downsizing from bigger cars and thus are buying the more high end hatchbacks. This in turn means that, within reason, the German car makers can charge more or less what they please, with the promise of an exclusive product.

I'd like to say that if I was in the position of buying a new car right now I'd give the Golf a miss. Unfortunately everything else in the same size and price bracket holds absolutely no appeal to me (apart from a Leon maybe) so I'd still end up visiting a VW showroom. Buggered if I'd wait for a new one though with the amount of very low mileage used ones about.

I'm with you on this. I would buy a nearly new one evrytime. Fcuk the waiting times.

Thanks for your views folks.  Frustrating as it is I cant see any other vehicle at the moment that appeals and may not be happy with a second hand one.

Ill stick with it.

But you can pay more for a top of the range Astra TDI than a golf. So the price is not that high.

I could not agree more with this take on it. I'm really struggling with the wait time for what is basically a diesel golf, but I have never had any patience to speak of....ever. I've to go back into the dealer to 'apply' for a loan car at week 14 to see if I'm eligible come week 16. Still no confirmation that the order has been accepted by VW never mind a build date. I'm seriously giving consideration to cancelling and just going out and buying a near new GTD as there are quite a few available out there. Although I'll stick it out until I get an update, and if that is as expected to be months away then time to start looking elsewhere.
