For money read job or vice versa.
Money = job = food = house = car = decent life = happiness + less crime ...........

It seems it is about the money, unfortunately!

Out here in the sticks I too have ,
Money = self employment = food = houses = cars = decent life = happiness + no crime what so ever...

When I walk down the garden to my office with views over open countryside, I know which one I would prefer.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Herr Doktor does not accept this mind blowing finding. His satisfaction will only be obtained if we can repeat the whole exercise when we swap my horse with my colleague's mare.

It's impossible - Snoopy told me so

Yesterday, I did an mpg comparison with a work colleague's Audi S3 Auto/DSG (whatever) Sportback and my manual GTI driving from work (Kings X) to West London, an 8 mile journey in some of the worst traffic conditions. Both our cars had full tanks of petrol (you know the clean stuff!). At the end of this momentous journey my average mpg was 26.1 and his 16.3!

I am so glad I did not buy an R as I would be loth to have a full fledged relationship with the guys in the Total petrol station.  :lipsrsealed:

So, ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, lads and lasses, maybe these mpg figures will temper your lust for an R.

I don't believe that there would be such a difference. Mind you, you're travelling lighter with your red undercoat...

MAW73:
West Sussex where I live is the best of both worlds. Close to local towns and plenty of countryside  and only an hours drive north into london or an hours drive south to the south coast.
I can't believe the S3 or an R would be that bad fuel wise?

Herr Doktor does not accept this mind blowing finding. His satisfaction will only be obtained if we can repeat the whole exercise when we swap my horse with my colleague's mare.

I am sure your neck of the woods is lovely with tons of fairies and goblins providing the best of both worlds.

I must visit once I get that long awaited invertation from a certain lovely man.

Asker, yep pop down and see me in sussex. Your car must need a good drive out of London  I'm moving house in the next few weeks so when we're settled in I'll give you a call to arrange.

Thank you Martin for your kind invitation. I look forward to meeting you.
Andy, you can start ordering large building items to help Martin whilst you've still got your slvt-slot in operation.
