Yeah I'm having a look now, I've got time so I'll just keep having casual looks inbetween revision

Plus I'd prefer black anyway

Piece of piss mate.  Even I can do it and I'm a simpleton.

Problem solved then! I'd actually like to have a little project car for myself anyway - not that I'd be out in the garage for hours, six weekends on the trot, to change the gear knob

My mate suggested I get an 8v and swap in a 16v head! Pah! not ruddy likely!!!

It's not worth the hassle putting an engine in a car that had that engine in the first place. Buy a good valver, just be sure to check the sills and under the arch trim for rust, otherwise you'll end up with a valver like mine going to the scrapyard.

He's always full of stupid ideas like that. I've read that rust was a common problem on mk3s so I now know what to look out for when I have a look at one

Make sure to take the sill trims off to check underneath them (if fitted), because if you find anything like this:

DON'T GO FOR IT!

That was my car a few weeks ago.

And now it's a fridge freezer or maybe a can of fizzy drink.

To find out more about recycling services available in your area, contact your local council and see how you can get involved.
