Sill covers

After reading through the article on rust i had a quick look under the sill covers on my 97'p' and it all seems nice and clean but i was wondering if its worth just removing all that plastic and if it will look ok without it and also how does it work with the mot test as surely the sills can't be checked properly.

MOT testers are not allowed to take sill covers off, hence why a lot of MK3s (like my old Valver) get to such a bad state. If you don't have sill covers on then it will be fine going through the MOT so long as there isn't any other corrosion to other major structure points.

As for looks, it's entirely up to you. I prefer them on but then as you've read about, there is increased chance of rust.

Best thing to do if you want to keep them on is to spray a load of waxoil underneath which should help.

Thanks guy's, i think i'll go with the remove/wax/replace way as they seem to suit the lines on the 3 door and make it look chunkier.

Excellent, i was going to ask if there are pictures of plastic/non plastic to compare although i'd be interested to know if the reaction to keeping the arch covers without the sill covers.
BTW the first pic of the green 2 door is closest to mine not including those lovely wheels, are they treser alloys?.
