Mark 5 18" Monza Wheels
« on: 02 May 2011, 09:45 »
Hey, new to this site, great to see so many geeks like me so besotted by our Golf GTI's. I've had my Mk 5 for 5 yrs now and still love it. I have some clouding on my alloys which I have had refurbed at Pristine Wheels in Milton Keynes over the last few yrs but this 'fogging' has come back. Any suggestions where else to use as they have this diamond cut which rules out many refurb companies? East Midland area? billyboy :)

It does not matter who you use, with this type of wheel finish it will always come back.

As above, common problem with clear lacquer. As above, you're better off refurbing in a different finish if you don't want that effect.

Yeah they are a pain mate. My mate has 18inch monza's and his were prone to going a mess so he got them sprayed silver.
Its for sale now actually 51,000 £9250 which is good seen as it is in MINT condition. Have a look..

the best way to cure this problem, is to have them referbed again , take away the chrome, and spray in silver !! i did mine myself a few weeks ago, and fair play they look great , cant even tell they are not chrome !!
