BTW, I was looking at a GTI in the showroom, measuring the amount of length the car will accomodate with the seat folded (I fly RC planes and need the room for the wings) and the salesperson asked me what I was doing. I told him I was a mortician (I'm not) and every now and then I have to transport a body, and I wanted to make sure I had enough room'.

The sad thing is i have actually done that more than once for that reason.
Yes i mesured up 4x4s at the motorshow and skoda octavia estates at the local dealers to see if a coffin will fit in, then asked about the rear tinted window package after they asked why.
The reason? A friend family have a Funeral Service buisness, and its much better having some unmarked cars if you have to transport from long distances in a normal car at normal motorway speeds without the public knowing what your doing.

I find the easiest way to fox a salesman is to ask him a simple question about specification.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

only for the fannies that don't know their job properly.

to be honest i would always stay clear of the wierdos pulling out the tape measures, more hassle than they're worth. even if they end up buying a car i'd have wasted that much time with them i could have sold 3 or 4
a4 2.8 30v v6 quattro gets me vag

Bought a second hand mk4 Astra GSI Turbo (well 6 months old), a few years back. It ate three turbos in a row all under warrenty.  I have to admit it handled better than my GTD.  There were a few butt clenching moments, but it coped well.  Although I didnt get it from Vauxhall sourced it privately.

I would have been interested in a GTI and could have bought one but the fuel economy does it for me.  54 miles per day to work and back.  At todays prices that would be nearly a full tank per week. £70. humm. instead its one every fortnight. Half price motoring.
