So which is the genuine reason for selling it and which are just excuses?

No excuses at all and nothing at all wrong with the car, I am lucky to do 80 to 100 miles a month and with paying £49 a month for insurance plus the rising cost of fuel means the time has come to accept that it is not worth having a car.

So if it does sell then I will cancel the insurance and not bother with a car for a while.

So say 'I'm selling the car because I'm only doing 80-100miles a month and it's not worth having it' instead of trotting out a BS sales spiel line, which makes it look like you're hiding something.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Makes you question why you bought a car in first place.

That does 80-100 miles a month if he's lucky  Enthusiast. Really?

That's public transport/bike mileage that is.

Spent the money on prostitutes instead.

Nah - it's totally understandable.

I only did one track day in my Golf last year, but it doesn't matter one iota.  The main thing to me is that I own it and as and when I have the time to play with it, I do.

I also own a Corrado and a Suzuki SJ as well and the Corrado didn't do ANY miles last year!

Exactly this. My Golf made one VW meet in 2011 and that was a 8 mile round trip. That's all it did in the whole year.

This ^ Makes it sound like a genuine reason for selling

... and you're paying £50 a month + fuel which is negligible because you use so little of it for a car that you can take out for a blast once in a while when you so desire and take your bike out to places you've not been before to go cycling somewhere new :undecided: oh well, your car.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Also have to agree, someone on here had a bit of a pop at me not so long ago questioning my opinion on illegal mods on a road car when I barely drive my own.  The golf is a second car, It's old, it's classic, it's mine, I love it and I enjoying working on it when I have time and how much it gets driven doesn't affect any of that.  In fact the golf is only insured to do 3k a year and although it wasn't on the road for a great amount of time, I nearly hit my insured limit.

I suppose the difference with this car is it's a daily, and if it's not being used then I suppose it makes sense to get rid.  However, wasn't that the case when first purchased?
