how low should i go?

i really want my more door mk3 gti to sit low, but it is also my family car. can anyone recomend how low i should go? i was thinking 60mm.

is it ok to drop it with springs on standard shocks? if not ill save up for some spax coilies cos my mate sh*@ged a set of jom in about a week and i need my car every day.

Im not certain on this but I believe you shouldn't lower a car more than 40mm on standard shocks, as it can cause the shocks to give up, but im sure someone on here will either confirm or correct me :D

The person above is right, even a 40mm drop is pushing it really. Standard shocks will fail very quickly after fitting lowering springs, really you need shortened shocks to go with them.

Spax coilovers will do the job very nicely, they won't be cheap mind!

As above really, or fit a cheap set of coilovers and set as you feel the need.

venom do 30% uprated shocks 30/40 pound a corner has anyone used these? im really suspisious of cheap coilovers. i can get spax for £260. what should i do. (need a confused smiley).
