ran without oil :O :O :O

sisters car ran out of oil, driven till it broke down this way, smoke, rattling and cutting out.... what kinda damage is expected, and what kinda repair bill? better with a 2nd hand engine or a repair?

her bf should have known how to check the oil, specially since they had a leak and the oil light was on.... the engine keeps cutting out, very weird rattling noise and smokey emissions from the exhaust. doesnt sound healthy at all

Is there any holes in the block? Might be lucky and get away with havin new bearings and the crankshaft reground. Will prob cost around 300 at least so new engine might work out best

What car is it, and what value to you put on it? if its a banger, then just scrap it and get another, with oil already in the engine!
