Early 8v Parts Book/Diagram
« on: 27 April 2011, 22:21 »
Hi, I am having trouble getting a replacement part for my early (1984) 8v. On the back of the head between injectors three and four there is a plastic part with a vacuum pipe from it. This has been broken on my car but no one in the trade knows what the part is called or what it does. If anyone on here knows what I am going on about please let me know its name and function. I know the later engines have a metal pipe in the head in this position doing whatever it does but dont really want to change the head unless I have to. If anyone has a parts book or diagrams for the early cars I would be very interested as my son has just picked up a similar car with the same fault, though his has been glued and seems to be holding on at the moment. Hope someone can help. Cheers, Bob.

I've registered twice and I have no joy! No email sent from them!

I know exactly what you mean (I have an 84 8v too) and possibly have a part number somewhere. Just give me a couple of days as I've just moved house...

Hello friends,

I own an early 85 GTI in southern France.

As i was cleaning the engine, i decided to check out all the hoses to see if they were ok, unfortunately,a piece of the plastic broke up and staid in this small hose on the back of the head
I guess it is the same part as the number 24 ;)
I'm not able to find it on the internet, and of course VW has stopped to sell it since 2002.
Argh
What can we do ?  :lipsrsealed:
