« on: 27 April 2011, 14:00 »
Right sorry for the random qestions!

Mate of mine has offerd me a mk2 90 spec 16 valver.....its been sat on his aunts drive for the last 7-8 doing nothing what so ever!

Now my problem is if i do deside to take it, the keys are long gone lost? is it hard to replace them plus how easy is it to remove steering lock so i can tow it home?

Oh and before anyone asks i know VERY little untill i go and see it later tonight....she wants 100 quid for it surly worth that in parts?

Cheers very much all!

Pics please...prove your not a thief!

You can get new lock & keys sets from many places.  Full set from GSF.

You will have to drill out the ignition barrel to free the lock.

iirc, you can have a look inside the door handles for a VW key code - take it to them and they should be able to give you a new set of keys - provided the handles and ignition barrel are original.

I dare you to haggle and give her £50 for it. Those are the best deals

Bargain ftw! Also check the condition of the big bumpers and if they are original. Thats all that matters

have a good poke at sills and things, it may have sat rotting and be worth f**k all!

I would be trying to have it for free.

There are a lot of parts it will need to get it running (service items, brakes etc) plus the massive potential for lots more having been left for so long. Was it dry stored or left to the elements?

Really keen for pics tho- could be amazing!

Right just got back from a quick look! As normal not all the facts are rights lol it turns out its not a 90 spec its a Helios Blue 3 door on an E plate....Big bumpers all look genuine guessing not standard on the spec tho?......to be honest alot of rust the local kids has smashed two windows so alot of damp etc so really dont think it worth putting on the road but its clearly had a fair bit of money thrown at it!

Its got blue 10mm HT leads and the oil and water looks amazing and fresh lol altho all at the bottom of the engine now! And i cant start at the mo lack of keys lol Last time it ran was mid 2006 and ran out of MOT and never put back!

Oh and its got Red needle's on the dials? shows 160mph.....anything rare? or just me! there defo not painted on either lol

Any who iv taken loads of pics so you lot can see whats what! Just give me a chance to up load!
