distributor hall sender query on 8 valve gti
« on: 26 April 2011, 20:59 »
right, finally after spending money on sensors i didnt need, i got a diagnostic check on it, (it wouldnt rev past 5000rpm,hestitation when off throttle) it came up 00537 and 00525 which was the lamda sensor, also 00515 which comes up hall sender, now the guy said hed checked the timing and all was ok,so i ordered a lamda sensor and a secondhand dizzy, then i came across the mark on the dizzy, that the rotor arm should line up to, mine was a good 30 degrees out,so thought id have ago and lined it up, the car ran better and revved past 5000revs, but still had the hesitation off throttle, so on went the new lambda sensor and now all is running perfect, what i wanted to know was, would that distributor being out of line, bring up the hall sender outside tolerance signal? as ive now got a spare distributor i bought for £50 (also ive driven the car a good 50 miles, turned off and on a couple of times, and gone through the temperature and rev range, and shes still running sweet,so im pretty sure its all fixed.

99.999999999% sure the rotor arm being out of line throws up the hall sender fault up

That's what I was thinking because on the code read up it says out of tolerance, which would suggest the rotor not lining up,I'm surprised he didn't notice it, he seemed quite clued up on dubs
