noisey fan belt!!
« on: 26 April 2011, 19:38 »
as above really,

only on start up though, one quick blip of the throttle to 4000 rpm and its gone, may rear its head if i put light on with full beam and fogs and load the alternator up a bit, belt is plently tight enough... its on a 91 mk2 16v, any one know the right fan belt size as ill prob try a new one or one thats a bit wider as the pulleys look a fair bit shiney/ worn. unless its easier to convert to a multi v elt arrange ment if i can grab some pulliers off something else?

Just replace the belt, easiest option. Also give the v's in the pullys a rub down with some wire wool and you should be laughing.

pullies roughed up in the v's with my diamond file and a new gates belt fitted and nice peaceful starting! , wondered what noises start next!! going back to k-jet after having alot newer stuff for long you become a bit paranoid of noises , and lumpy splutters / misfires!! but thats the joys of it all haha
