Bringing my car back to life
« on: 26 April 2011, 18:30 »
Ok, so I have a clapped out mark 4 golf that I bought was a lemmon! It said it had 71000 miles checked old MOT and has 145000 miles on it including the miles I have done. Needs lots of work doing but I reckon it can be brought back! I have around two grand for getting it up and running. Getting it booked in for an MOT and service next week. Then going to get everything changed that needs changing. I want to improve performance and looks on my golf both power and mpg anyone got any ideas?

It's a 1.4 E 2001 on a Y reg

Parts Upgrades

I'm going to get a new exhaust system, air filter, getting it remaped, spark plugs possibly?
New standard suspension (going to upgrade to better quality/sport suspension when I have more funds available.
New brake pads possibly all parts depending on what mechanic says. anyone got an suggestions for good break manufacturers?

Cosmetic: Smoked front and rear lights, dark grey/ black alloys, new standard gear knob, want it raising (think someone has lowered it stupid amounts as it catches on speed humps), black VW badges, tinted windows, bucket seats, 2 new better performing speakers, an amp and a sub.
Got to replace the bonnet, front left wing, bumper and grill.

If anyone can suggest any ideas big or little then please do :D

I will get some pictures and get them on. Its a state but hopefully will be gleaming.

Sell it and buy a 1.8t with the proceeds and the 2k you have spare

Waste of time doing any engine mods on the 1.4 tbh dude.

If I tell them? Plus it won't cost as much as getting a 2 litre, I ran a quote and it was like 11 grand so it is definitely not an option.

Any makes which are quality products but with reasonable prices for the changes I want to make.

If I tell them?

In which case you sir are a TOOL of the highest order, you will be invalidating your insurance, and god forbid if you had an accident.

Harsh, but true.
