Yeah... do a DH, drop an ABF into a syncro, job done.

If want to be more adventurous a TFSI or similar into a Mk1 with AWD would be epic.

personally that engine would be crap in a mk1.. better off putting a 4wd 1.8t lump in.. atleast it will be f**king fast and handle really well.. the v6 will just veer off into a ditch lol get a written off S3 and just drop everything and scrap the shell..

how much heavier is the v6 engine?

stainesy - do it :afro:

Dont think there is major difference in weight but a highly tuned 1.8t would be a lot better.. the v6 in the mk4 is a pretty lousey engine with next to no tuning potential unless your going supercharged or turbo charged which would be bloody expensive for litte gains.. 1.8t is already good for 290bhp which the right setup and parts are fruitfull.. Its just my opinion

except to go over that 290bhp on a 1.8t will require a better turbo, rods, pistons yadda yadda yadda. which will cost pretty much the same as a turbo, rods, pistonhs yadda yadda on a vr6. Except the vr6 will see much bigger gains. Theres no replacement for displacement.
i also fail to see how the vr6 motor is anymore likely to veer off into a ditch than the 1.8T

I would back the 1.8T 4WD option. I have just never seen the point in VR's, just thirsty and make a nice sound. Surely with standard rods you can take the 1.8t to near enough 300 on the nose with good mapping on a KO4 with the trimmings (intercooler etc)? Anyhow, moving back on topic. Would be an awesome project to undertake, if you feel you and your mates have the talent to pull it off just go for it!
