Managed to sort the 1200rpm problem. The sensor plugged into the throttle body was loose, also had the throttle body error codes reset and now it's running the way it should.

Re: Flash Red MK3 Golf 20th Anniversary - Almost sold her!
I almost sold Ruby the weekend before last. I went to Manchester to see vdubninja about his car for a swap with mine (vdub, thanks for the coffees and good chat :afro:), but on the return home I decided I really didn't want to get rid of mine after all.

Don't know what it is but I just want to stick with the old gal. That being said, bloody thing has it's issues but I will be getting most of them sorted in the next few weeks. First being the MAF needing replacing, I changed a front oil breather pipe yesterday (£66 from the bloody stealers!). The old one was completely fecked and both ends had been damaged, upon taking out one end the end just came off and stayed where it was connected.  That's how bad it was.

Anyway, plans are to get a few things sorted and then start saving. Might end up having the first 20VT MK3 Anniversary.  :lipsrsealed:

See mate! You were well eager to do the swap, but I said it's best we both think about it. Ruby is a stunner, and I wanted to:

A) Be sure I wanted her

and

B) Make sure you were making the right decision.

And isn't it a good job you waited!

Glad you made the right decision.

I'm in two minds now after meeting ruby... Do I go all out and get another MK3 (Might go for a pre done 20VT) or do I just fix Scarlet's gremlins, then slam her and map her.

Loving the wheels on Ruby btw mate.

And finally, don't listen to these haters your seats are FECKING AWESOME! And KEEP the red belts!!! :lipsrsealed:

Did you eat your freddo btw?

New Falkens tires on the way for the front, also some new discs and pads as I noticed the steering and brake pedal vibrating under pressure. Hopefully it's those that sort that problem.

Also, not sure why but second gear when cold doesn't lock into gear a smoothly as all the other gears, it doesn't crunch as such, but doesn't have a sense of 'oh, I felt that go in'. What could be the problem there?

Second gear issues are common as muck on these, fit a new linkage bush kit and treat the box to some fresh oil and I reckon it'll be sweet. My last 8v was exactly the same when I bought it.

Cheers thai. Just read rubjonnys guide for the mk2 which I am to believe are the same, so if I buy a repair kit (about £18 on eBay) I'll have to get this sorted as it is annoying. Should tighten up all the other gears too then I take it?
