its also illegal for any part of your car other than tyres to make contact with the road, which a nice police officer pulled me for on my old mk2 few months back when front splitter scraped across the road infront of him as i left a car park, luckily by being pleasent to him and not giving him atitude got me left off with a warning. which id sugest would happen with tints.

end of the day if you drive like a twit then you will be pulled and anything used as a excuse to fine you, if you drive sensibly and dont give p.c plod attitude when he does pull you, you will probably get away with it

Ah, that's a shame  :undecided: I've always like tints on Mk4's.. I think it really sets them off.

They're illegal.

Get them off before you pull out on someone because you didn't see them, you moron.

thank god someone else said it before me

plus get stopped 80 pound on the spot fine and you have to rip them off, can't get the tints off, ur walking home son!

More like 3 points and a £60 fine.

Still looks good though.

And a prohibition notice, so you can't drive the car until the highlighted defects have been resolved.

This really isn't an 'it'll probably be OK if I'm nice' situation.

They're dangerous.

They're banned.

Those front tints will be way over the allowed percentage.

You're a moron for putting them on.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Only if your really unlucky and gone out of your way to argue! Probably be more a case of pull them off here and now before you drive off with the threat of a prohibition notice. lol.

whilst i agree with most negative points about tints here...

They're dangerous.

i have to disagree with this one.

i'm (temporarily) driving about in a mk4 golf just now with limo black rear tints and light front tints
 - yes they are horrible looking
 - they attract a certain demographic
 - no doubt the car attracts more attention from police as well

however the difference in visibility is marginal. it took me over a week to even notice that the fronts were tinted, and it was only when i put the window down and saw where the film started.

in my opinion they are illegal not from a safety point of view (this may be an excuse by police) but rather so they can monitor the road users - stop folk gabbing on phones/smoking joints when driving etc etc

if it wasn't for the fact i am selling it in a few weeks i'd have them off. simply can't be bothered.
