Retro-fit Sat-Nav
« on: 23 March 2005, 09:06 »
Morning all

Can anybody tell me if they have had sat-nav fitted in their MkIV golfs? I have been offered a new sat-nav unit from SatNavSystems of Leeds for £625 (version G), fitted for an additional £120.

Has anyone had it done, or do they know of any problems? The bloke who would fit it is an ex VW technician.

Opinions would be appreciated, oh yeah, you're probably all going to say get a TomTom Go.......... :lipsrsealed:

Hi if you can wait i'm actually in the middle of developing a sat nav system, which will have a 7" touch screen screen, be able to have satnav with camera warnings, play mp3s, divx and dvds. Allowing you to store 80gb of mp3s or movies. Also should allow you to answer the phone using the screen using bluetooth to link to the system.

I have retrofitted Satnav into my GTI, I got the D version for £400 delivered which was in perfect condition.
With the D version you get directions, info and radio stations on the FIS cluster very easily.

Surely all sat nav works the same, i.e. gets you from a to B?

What makes it so pants?  The software?  Screen? accuracy? something else

VW satnav could'nt even find my street, never mind my house.  When I put my postcode into it, it came up with a street 18 mile away :undecided:
