DSG
« on: 23 April 2011, 10:32 »
I have had my Mk6 for a few weeks now. Having just done over 1000km since new I decided to put the car into sport mode today and push her a bit. All was fine for the first few minutes until I did kick down at the lights.  The whole car shock and couldnt seem to find the right gear, jerking slowly forwards and not really going anywhere.  Put back into normal Drive mode and all was fine again.  Anyone else had this problem?  I will take her to VW tomorrow.

Nothing to do with front wheel drive or manual vs DSG, the car bloody stalled when I did kickdown in Sport mode.  Surely something is wrong.  Not happy.

It probably got confused tried to select two gears at once and got stuck between them. Try it a few more times and see what happens. Sounded to me like a Mechatronics control unit fault in the DSG gearbox.

Excuse the ignorance, what is a mechatronics control unit fault?  Is that a serious issue?

Cheers for responding Snoopy

Its the control unit that slides inside the DSG gearbox to control it.

A good explanation of it is in this link
