Turbo Whistle & Whine...
« on: 22 April 2011, 08:11 »
Morning chaps. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a problem I think I have.

When I first bought my ARL, it was going into limp mode pretty much everytime it passed 3k revs. but this seems to have stopped of late. Maybe it's because I've changed a couple of clips and o-rings on the pipe to the EGR, which had about 3-4mm play. Maybe it's just coincidental that I have given her a few decent runs, and maybe thats cleared out a few of her cobwebs. She was previously owned by a female doctor, she's bound to have had a few [the car not the doctor].

What's happening now, is that as I'm accelerating, I get the usual turbo whistle, but as the revs rise and I get closer to the top of the gear, I get an additional whistle/whine, which disappears when the revs drop. It sounds like a leak, but with no black smoke, I'm a little puzzled.

Has anyone experienced similar problems and can point me in the right direction please?
