Or try going for something lighter then a mk3..

Id say if you cant afford the insurance for a mk3 vr6 etc, then you'll struggle to pay for what your asking to be done, easily be £1-1.5k to do that id imagine

Have you had insurance quotes for gti's? 8v prob wouldn't be to bad.

On standard internals you could only really run a low boost turbo anyway so it'd be safer and more reliable and prob cheaper to get a 8v or 16v gti and still have similar power gains.

If your goin to upgrade the internals you'll be looking at big money so might aswell go the whole hog and get either a vr6 or 1.8t
