Tickover and blip
« on: 22 March 2005, 11:53 »
Hi All, (again)

*You'll probably see by my posts, all that is wrong with our newly acquired GTi. (Mk3 8v)

The idle seems quite low, (700) and when you press the "Go" pedal, gently, the revs actually dip, before rising. This happens all the time, whether hot or cold. It makes for a jumpy pull-off, unless you're resting on the pedal at 1500 or so.

Any ideas what this could be?  (I've been readin posts on idling and the ISV, does this sound similar?) Is it just a case of increasing the tickover? I've no idea. Not VW/car literate nor minded, now don't have the money for others to fix it either...

I mentioned it to the local garage. He sprayed some cleaner in the throttle body. This made things worse. I've done about 100 miles since. The tickover is still low, it still dips when pressing the throttle, but now, it hesitates all over the place now, particulary when harder accelerating from lower revs. D'oh!

Cheers,
GazTheHat

Thanks overseer. Just after posting i noticed the thread: GTI 2L 8v 1996...flat spot, please help   - which seems to be a similar a problem. I'll try the relays and failing that, Mrs Doubtfire the Throttle body, see if that sorts it.
