MK2 8V Emissions Failed MOT - Update
« on: 18 April 2011, 10:17 »
failed on CO2 % volume, max limit 3.5 and mine came in with a 5.627 reading, I have adjusted the air flow meter as specified in Haynes manual, filled my tank with some shell rocket fuel, will be blasting down a duel carriageway later this week.

I am going to buy a spare air flow meter and fit to see if it improves any further as I had a really bad petrol / exhaust fumes smell beforehand but its a lot lot better since I adjusted the meter,so fingers crossed for the retest.

Thought Id post an update on how my MOT went, I replaced all the vacuum hoses, then using an Allen key adjusted the airflow meter settings, i disconnected the blue coolant temp sensor while I revved the engine up to 3000 rpm 3 times which then recalibrated the air flow via the ECU, filled up with shell rocket fuel and had a blast down the duel carriageway.

The car sailed thru the MOT with the emissions well below the upper limit, thanks to the Rubjohhny for the "how to" post in the forums.
