Indeed thats my thinking, I will get a Mk7 if the price is right ?? The dealers have a brand new mk6 gti in and have had it for a couple of weeks now also Manuel with plastic leather 30k 

Frigging joke prices. My local dealer has a used one in at £30k!!! Too many company car drivers buying GTIs now who don't care what they pay meaning VW know they can restrict production and charge what they like - until people can't afford used ones in a few years time and dealers struggle to shift them when they go out of fashion again.

Yes i will need a step ladder to get up there  , yes could have bought the gti but i'm not paying that sort of money out of principle really

What a crazy idea. 
Some folk are forced in to taking company cars which aren't perks but a necessity. Why should they have to take what they are given or have a sign written car?!?
In my last job I was forced to take a leased car which my employer (NHS) paid for half of. I fail to see why enforcing a car or sign written car on someone would help anyone?

In your case you'd have only had to have one side of the car sign written! 
Company cars aren't a necessity unless you're a taxi driver (or similar) and I will from now on label company car drivers as the sole reason why bloody cars have got so expensive, if you're a private buyer and on anything but silly wages you walk if you don't get value for money, company car drivers just pay a bit of extra tax and hammer the crap out of the car making the next owner drive around in a lump of self funded scratched, dented, full of fag ash junk. The only way you'll change my mind is by bribing me.
