And that's without the options I would have spec'd if I'd bought it new such as parking sensors; xenons etc.

Mine is now £28,447 without the numerous retro-fits.
With these it is £31,677.
If ordered from the factory it would be £32,777.
Oh, and £986 for winter tyres.
Grand total = £33,763.

Expensive for a medium size family hatchback.

£1000 more to spend on new Goodyear Summer tyres and a Re-map.

£28209 new now. (without including any retrofits).
I paid a large amount less than that. I paid less for mine than most people pay for a used ones in the past year but its not a high spec. I also paid less for it than someone i know who has bought a polo GTI with only a few options which makes me go  :smug:
I just priced mine up with the options I tried and VW agreed i could add but dealer said, stall, stall, no reply, mess him about, stall, stall, no reply, babble, no reply, ack stupid, no reply, stall, sorry sir its now too late...

£30364 now
thats ~£6000 more than i would have paid back then

Simply put i would not buy one if i was looking now.

I've just had a look on the VW configurator - the cost of my car new is a whopping £27,999

That's an increase of 5K in 18 months!!

VAT increase, annual price increase and all that  but 19% ( adjusted for discount) is just silly.

Hm, I had to check my car on this; converted to UK value I have paid something like £56.000 for a 2011 model Golf GTI

You are all so lucky!!
