Golf GT Tdi DSG
« on: 21 March 2005, 16:20 »
Just picked up my new golf today....and I am well pleased with it.

Although it's not as quick as my previous car (V6 4 motion) it sure is a heck of alot cheaper to run.....!!

Overall, upto now cant really fault it...so if anyone wants a sporty, quick (ish) and most importantly economical car...give this one a thought!!!

Dave.

Have to agree with you.   My son got his at the beginning of the month, and it's great.

I find it very swift after driving my Mk2, and have to keep a careful eye on the speedo.  It took a bit of getting used to after driving a petrol car, and I sometimes forget which gear I'm in 'cos there's so many!

Only strange thing is that after opening the car, quite often the passenger door doesn't open and can't work out why.

As has been pointed out you have to press the key fob twice to open all doors, once will only open drivers door. However, if you should press it three times the passenger door will lock again although all other doors will remain unlocked. This is a common problem on most recent VW's, especially mark 5 golf and apparently there is no fix but at least if you know about it you know why.

Sounds the same as mk4's .. but that can be altered using vag-com so that one push opens all doors.. im sure it is/will be possible with mk5's too.

If you have the big display in your clocks you can change the setting from just drivers to all doors on first click!

We had a 4motion before our GT TDi and the performance is closer than it feels!

PLUS MPG 47ish on motorways doing 90-110mph is great!
