16v into mk1 is very common mate and the issues are all very straight forward to solve, 100mm drive flanges on gearbox are required but if you use 16v kr engine with 16v box then it drops in, you will need 16v metering head n fuel lines n ecu. pm rubjohnny about making up a loom.
mine has a brm motorsport loom which runs a 16v isv rather than using the mk1 aav, and it idles perfectly with no hunting.

Cheers raferackstraw, found a cheap straight forward replacement option to get me going again. Think this is still going to be a good option for the future so its good to know its not to much work to get the 16v KR in. Gotta see if I can get hold of some nice wheels and coilovers/lowering springs now, might need to start a new thread for advice on this!
