New and my golfy's engine is dead!!!!

Hi all. I'm James from Northampton and am new to the site, came across it trying to find some advice on what to do next. I have had my 89 Mk1 Golf Gti Cab for over 4 years now and its finally thrown up another problem to make me get my wallet out. After seeing it get recovered from my garage after a long winters sleep last saturday, it now requires a new engine (block and head). Its The DX engine code but was wondering where to look at how difficult it would be/expensive to get the 16Valve KR engine dropped in it(and is there loads of wiring issues thrown up by this). Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks again, James.

Am struggling to find the same engine at the moment. Does anyone have any ideas on somewhere I could get one from? Have posted on the wanted section and Phoned around various salvage companies. Besides that i suppose its a waiting game?!?!?!
