stuck coilovers

I’m still having trouble with one of the collars I got the locking one sorted but the adjusting one only wants to budge like 1/8th of a turn if I put all my weight on it to move the hammer just bends the c spanner now any ideas? Could it be that the threads are damaged I’ve been moving it like this for about 2mm down and it seems to be getting harder not easier even with the treads being all shiny and clean underneath.

What do you think are they any good?
I’ve looked at a DIY guide on how to install and it said I should replace my front top mounts with vr6 ones are these ok?

Mines a 1996 1.6 cl.
How difficult is the installation going to be ill read through the guide a few more times but I’m not experienced at all so any help or tips would be great thanks. 

That's a good price for them assuming that they are in decent condition (they look more than 6months old to me though).

When changing your suspension it's always a good idea to replace the top mounts. Cheap ones fail very quickly so it's best to get decent ones like Febi or Lemforder

Make sure you soak all nuts in a penetrating fluid overnight before you try to undo them, otherwise you may run into problems. It will help to have a mate round as a spare pair of hands other than that it is a pretty straight forward even for a beginner

I’m a student so monies tight but if these are going to last longer the extra £5 isn’t a problem.
Yeah thanks that is the guide I looked at I’m right in thinking that if I replace the front mounts I won’t need a spring compressor then? Although looking at the pictures it looks as though the coilovers already have top mounts on?

Thanks for the tips I’ve never done anything like this before so just trying to get as much info as I can, I haven’t actually paid for the coilovers yet so if there no good I could always not pay I suppose, how old would you guess they are? I don’t want to put them on only for them to break after a week and have just wasted £150 cheers.

aslong as the shocks are fine and the threads arent seized then i dont see a problem.

as for changing the coilovers, dont need a compressor no.
put it think way. my and my mate had the suspension off one corner of my car changed over and back on in 15 mins

Thanks for the reply i dont really mind how long it takes a mate said he would give me a hand but neither of us know what were doing so i didnt want to mess anything up or get stuck no suspension or something.

Really? I just cant justify spending too much. It was between these or some JOM's or FK's for about £170 new on ebay but i figured since these were ment to be around £350 new they may be better quality even though supposidly 6 months old? Thanks for the reply

if you are unsure about the age ask for an invoice proof.. most come with a year warrenty so he would have the invoice... i still have mine from my old car!

its simple 22mm nut on the top mount... need and open swan neck spanner and a alan key. and then two bolts down the bottle of the strut. 19mm i think!

Thanks I will send him a email, yeah looking at the guide it dosent seem too bad providing the bolts come off ok just seems a little daunting I've never so much as changed a wheel. Thanks for the tips

its cool!. just make sure they are soaked in penertrating fluid for a while and go slow dont want the bolt snapping if they are in bad shape!
