And if so why is it intermittent? You will notice the rattle goes away at the middle of the clip, and doesn't fully go away when I press in the clutch near the start. You can also hear it rattle about a bit when I start tapping the accelerator near the end of the video

This happens about one in every 5 or 6 times I use my car. There also seems to random creaks and knocks/rattles the rest of the time when I drive about in a low gear. I am just after getting two new mounts fitted (dogbone and O/S engine mount), and a CV joint. I am also waiting on a lead for the VAG COM system to hook up to my car. Will this help me diagnose it?

I don't know what I'm talking about really, but to my simple mind if the clutch can affect the noise, that probably means the faulty component is in contact with the clutch somehow, which the flywheel is. And I think you said revs affects it too? Flywheel responds to revs. I'd start poking around in that whole area and see what you can see.
Haynes: In order to remove <part name>, undo all the retaining bolts.
