^^ at the moment engineless!! before it was a straight forward digifant with a k&n, speedtech exhaust, piper 285 engine wise, g60 front brakes, mk4 rears, g60 leather interior, lots of other bits over the years! i'm trying to write up a project section to get where i am now as i'm doing a few bits to it at the moment (hence no engine) have a look at that if you can be arsed to have a read!

Hi,

Thanks for your advice and tips... like the uprating philosophy... :)

Would like to get rid of the cat altogether, but someone said to me that could increase fuel consumption ???

How much would a stainless steel exhaust system cost... standard looking with the twin discreet chrome back pipes on it. My exhaust sounds like a tractot at the moment..  be good if I could get it to sound like me good old stock mk1 campaign. i.e lighty frooty when you put your foot down

Cheers

you can get cat replacement pipes or miltek do a very good performance cat, but they aint cheap!!!

getting rid of your cat will only really increase fuel consumption because you'll be enjoying it more and putting your foot down!!

look to spend a few hundred on an exhaust as the cheaper ones aren't as good quality grade of steel and are almost as prone to rust as a mild steel version, which almost defeats the object of having stainless!!!

look for well known brands such as jetex, supersprint, magnex, miltek etc.
