Timing Set up HELP... Please.
« on: 10 April 2011, 13:24 »
Fitted new cam belt today and lined everything up as it should (factory marks) car runs like cr@p, more lumpy and and missy than it should be, well the same as it did before with the old belt. I noticed another mark on the bottom pulley cover that's almost 20mm after the factory marking.  Because of the 276 cam I thought that maybe it should be lined up to this with the cam marking lined to factory, it's worse...

Anybody have any hints and tips of timing marks for a high lift cam??? I'm stuck now.

Did you line the cam pulley up with the edge of the head or the rocker cover.

Does it have a vernier pulley or standard one?

It could be all sorts, you tried adjusting the dizzy?

The dimple on the pulley was lined up to the belt covers resting edge

Even though it's not important I even got the intermediate shaft lined up.

Standard pulley... Yeah I've been played with the dizzy and the cam timing whilst on the old belt many times, with the new belt on it was the first thing I did.. turned out to be a fuelling issue.  posted a bit more in rides thread.

Thanks for pointers though.

Cam pulley should be lined up to the edge of the head, so I think your correct.
