GTD, GTI, Tiguan
« on: 09 April 2011, 21:34 »
Right i'm in the hunt for a new car got my eyes on the above, but the GTI has got 6000 on the clock demo car on a 10 plate at 27 grand leather ,RNS, DSG, winter pack, I think its got xenon's. The GTD would be a 5 month wait , the Tiguan would come through in May. My Mrs wants the Tig and I want the other ones ether way ??

Your views and thoughts would be nice to hear thanks guys

PS bare in mind its got to be a 5 door due to new baby.

I have 2 kids, both still quite young and the GTI is perfect for getting us around day-to-day.  Roof bars and a roof box gets us to Cornwall in the summer without any problems.

The Tig is a nice car if you get the R Line version, but it aint no GTI

I will admit I'm toying with swapping to a Tiguan...purely from the practicality point of view, in all weathers.
I like them...they drive similar to a Mk6 Golf if in Sport/R spec and the ability to easily load them up and go anywhere in all weathers appeals.

Obviously a GTD Golf will give the best economy, and the GTI Golf the best performance...but a Tig has plenty going for it.

I'd probably go 140TDI, and most likely 7 speed DSG....which gives running costs similar to running a GTI in terms of fuel economy and servicing, but will far better all year round usability and without the temptation to go fast (and, ahem...get caught going fast!).

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

Steve: Don't get the Tiguan unless you want to drive a balmange. I drove one and hated it. You don't need to drive a hearse just because you've got a kid. Effing stupid car for London.

Sensible choice: 5 door GTD or slightly less sensible choice 5 door GTI.

Unless you want 4WD!!!

Tigs look nice but they are based on a renault koleos beneath the skin   if you want a softroader go for a freelander 2

5 door golfs are big enough for most families and are very safe

Contact VW customer services to find out who has what in stock and where, it's how I located my GTD
