Bigger wheels with lower profiles can tramline a little more.

........i think it depends on the state of the road & how much tread there is left on the tyres.

I recently went from the stock 205/55/16"s on my Mk5 to 225/40/18 and there is more tramlining, just enough to be slightly noticeable.

No problems at all with tramling, the GTI at motorway speeds and above is very stable.

Tramlining or torque steer? The bigger the jump in tyre you may notice slight differences but the look outweighs any additional concentration needed

Heavy, cheap replica wheels with crap tyres will cause tramlining, but quality or OEM wheels with good tyres will be just fine.
