gear box problem!!!!!!!

Hi guys i was driving back from work today and expierienced a problem with my gear box. When i tried changing into second it would not allow me to, my gear stick would not move, so i pulled over and stopped for a min i tried to get the gear stick into 1st no joy and 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th no joy. after wiggleing the gear stick for ages i managed to free it and carry on as normal 40 miles later and it is still ok, has anyone had this problem before or could anyone tell me what it could be many thanks.

somewhere there is a guide to resetting your gear lever position and cable, this might help?
