Advice: Fixed price servicing plan
« on: 05 April 2011, 10:47 »
Hi All

The car is due it's 60k mile service in 900miles or so. It's currently on the longlife service plan and uses Mobil 1 ESP 5w 30 oil.

VW have the fixed prive servicing offer on which gives two services and free MOTS for the life of the plan (i.e. max 20k miles) for £349.

The 60k mile longlife service is £320 from my local VW (although that can be negotiated down as I have done in the past as they offer a price match scheme).

I've just checked with the service department who've confirmed that they use the longlife oil i.e The Mobil 1 ESP 5w 30 on the time and distance services now anyway.

I am also thinking that my car will also benefit from a more frequent oil change which can only be  a good thing given its milage. Given that, under the plan, I'll get two services for almost the cost of the one longlife service, can anyone give me a reason not to go with the service plan offer for £349.

Cheers all

I've done it. Ive got a mate who works for VW and he said it does work out as a substantial saving. Had my major service and MOT done, and have "paid" for that with the 350. My next service and MOT are essentially FOC

The day you see me in a diesel is the day there is no more petrol left :D

Cheers J

Thinking the same thing. Looked like a better deal but just wanted to see if I was missing something.

I've done it as it's pretty good value.

However, because it's effectively pre-paid the dealer didn't give me a receipt, so apart from the stamp in the book I've no proof it's been done.  They said when I came to sell the car a prospective buyer could call them and they'd confirm it's been done i.e. the stamp is genuine!  However, I'd prefer a bit of paper!!

Anyone else had a service done under the service plan and if so did you get any paperwork?
