Thanks for the reply. That seems reasonable enough. I actually only want to clean the throttle body. Do you think it would be enough to just disconnect the air ducting on one side whilst leaving the body in place?
I parked on a kerb so the air hose end of the throttle body was lowest, took the pipe off, and sprayed a load of carb cleaner etc into body, with a rag underneath. Because it was parked at an angle it all ran out (rather than pouring into the car). Did a quick wipe around inside / on the butterfly valve. Then started it (mine started like a bag of sh*t first time, but cleared up when revved). Then turning throttle by hand I did a squirt or two by hand with engine running to clear out any remaining stuff further in. Cleaned/re-attatched pipe, then ragged it round the block a few times (may not be needed - but felt good
).
Worked like a dream. Don't know if it's the right way, but it worked for me
