Throttle switch wire broken in the connector!
« on: 04 April 2011, 13:10 »
Hello everybody,
I have just changed the cylinder head gasket on my MK 2. When I put everything together I noticed a wire had broken/pulled out of the connector to the throttle switch on top of the throttle body. It is a PB engine code with Digifant injection. Can you take these connectors apart. It's the bit that stays in the car loom where the wire is broken by the way. Is there an easy fix for this and does it cause the idle to be erratic! any help would be appreciated

you need a terminal removal tool, or patience and watchmaker screwdrivers. trouble is if the wire has broken off flush you'll struggle to get it out, in your shoes i would cut the plug off and solder on another from the scrappy. loads of vws use this plug for many things, just be aware this kind of connector has 2 types. some have 1 locking tab, some have 2 so take the plug with you while you look for a replacement. chop off plenty of length too so it wont happen again :)
