mk2 driver 4 stud to 5 stud help/advice??

Hi ive just taken ownership of a mk2 1.8 driver gu engine code, ive still got the wheels off my mk3 gti and i want them to fit onto the mk2

Does anyone know what hub/wheel bearing combination i need to use to have 5 stud fronts?

Im guessing it will be off a mk3 or mk4 but havent got a clue where to start

Would it not be easier / cheaper to sell the wheels and buy 4 stud wheels.

do you want to go wide track or stay narrow track

id like to stay narrow if possible. it would be easier to get new wheels but just fancy a bit of a challenge.

Thanks for that looking at the second link in the narrow track section it says fit a 5 stud hub, will any fit my driveshaft or will it need to be off a specific car?

you need to press 5 stud hubs into your old bearing carriers (or mk2 16v/g60 if you have 239mm brakes) then swap 5 stud outer cvs onto your shafts. trouble is they wont fit 90mm shafts, so unless its a 90 spec 1.8 driver you'll also have to change the gearbox or swap the flanges for 100mm ones, then fit 100mm shafts.

it was registered in feb 1992 on a j reg, so will i need to get hold of some 100mm shafts? or do they come on the 90 specs?

or will i just need the 5 stud hubs and outer cv joint? Also which model car should i buy them for?

you should have 100mm flanges on that, but best to check to be 100% sure

just need the outer cv joint and flange from 5 stud mk3 or corrado, then press em into 256mm+ 4 stud bearing carriers. you'll need a new wheel bearing too as removing the old flange will destroy it.

then once you have done that, you need to redrill the discs to 5 stud, or fit 280mm brakes and buy early Passat B3 VR6 discs. unfortunately these are VW only:
