Have 1989 Golf (1600cc carbureted) and can't find PCV

Hey all, I have a 89 Golf that is new to me - it has around 52,000 miles and I am real excited about it (drives/runs real nice) but when I replaced my air filter, it had a lot of what seemed to be an oil/fuel mix on it. I figured I'd check the PCV to see if maybe it was gunked up or something, but I can't even find it. I have searched through all the online manuals I can find and I have searched various forums and everyone seems to be talking about that big round disc that is mounted on their valve covers, but my Golf does not seem to have one. Is there a PCV somewhere else on this model?
TIA

Isn't it just a block breather that vents to the air filter on a carb engine? My 1.3 had no pcv, just a baffle type box on the back left lower corner of the block, with a hose running upto the air filter

Off the back of the rocker cover you should have a pipe going to the air box (on the picture below it has had a small filter fitted, see arrow)
You will need to remove the rocker cover and see what condition the gause is in, if blocked you will need to replace the rocker cover.
