Edition 35?

The bookies favourite is still the ED30/Cupra engine at present.
I read somwhere once not so long ago that the EA888 had things that prevented VW using it as the basis of big power units. No baffles in the sump was one, can't remember the other things.

As the ED35 is just the mk6 swansong model I reckon the scale of production will mean a tried and tested unit will be used. Alternatively you could guess that it could be the forerunner of the mk7 GTI engine using a modified EA888.
My money would be going where the bookies put theirs. We'll know for sure fairly soon.

I think they got it right with the Edition 30. I saw a black one in Clerkenwell this morning and it looked the business. They look good in red (see, I can be nice about red Asker) but I'd never seen a black ED30 before. Made me want my BBS wheels much sooner. I could avoid paying the builders for a few days come to think of it....

You're a bad man for trying to tempt me. You've got the wheel right but I'd prefer mine in silver not black.

Having done a quick check of the specs from various brochures; the GTI EA888 engine produces around 170 g/km of CO2. So you'd expect a lightly tuned EA888 to produce slightly more than that but much less than the R.
Not so.
The ED35 is just under 190 g/km which is almost identical to its very close family relative: The Leon Cupra and Cupra R both put out 190 g/km. And we all know the Leon Cupra has the EA113 K04 unit.
