Badge removal left badge inprint?
« on: 03 April 2011, 16:57 »
Ive de-baged my car. Ive took the rear badges off the same way as Ive done it on all my cars but on this car the badges have left a perfect outline of the badges. I have a black car if that makes any difference??

Ive tried meguiars ultimate compound and a foam applicator but no joy. It doesn't look like its the glue left behind, its smooth when you rub your finger over it.

Im planning on DA polishing my car with 3M perfect 3 next week, do you think that may remove it?

All you can do is 2000 grade wet/dry and carefully polish out with compound and a mop, the problem that you now have is the depth of the lacquer, before you break through!
Also, if your tailgate has been refinished since new, its unlikely that you will ever remove the marks, unless you repaint...

Oh bastard

Cheers Thom I guess ill just either have to live with it or replace the badges.

Im not confident enough to go at my car with wet/dry so ill just live with it

As Thom said not easy to get rid off, I put the badges back on my old car in the end.
