my old mk2 golf gti on deltoro twin 40z
« on: 01 April 2011, 15:46 »
kind of regreting getting rid of my mk2 gti now  even tho it cost 200
here is the story my mated bought this mk2 gti for 1600 on the way home we got too the main road near my hose when the engine went pop..... we stripped it down and the shells had spun and grinded the crank shaft so the car was left in my back street for months untouched.

i started a new job at the local garage and coming home every day too see the golf was a shame so i phoned my mate too see what he wanted he said make me an offer so me being a cheeky git offered him £60 and my laptop he said yes and i was over the moon.

next morning it was towed into the garage and was stood again while i sorced a new bottom end.
day after the engine turned up as there was a spare one from my boss's corrado gt.

full rebuild gasket kit was ordered and work was go two days later she started and i had my smile back
BUT NOT FOR LONG
took it out for a test run and was running lumpy due to a crack in the head so my old head went back on and she had a missfire sorted that with a second set of plugs
then she was a bugger to start so got a brand new starter that didnt do it so got a big battey of a transit and she was amazing the speed and the power was unreal form something so old but had too sell her as the gf was due our second child
she sold on ebay for under 1k

i miss the car so im going too get another

will get more pics ect when i

Mk1 cabby you mean. And why rebuild it to sell if you know it aint gonna fetch much online? Sell it as it is, and rebuild the engine in a car you're going to keep I reckon..

Stoopid is as stoopid does.

I love people that enjoy spending their money on something, knowing full well they're going to sell it?! I mean don't be get me wrong, my golf owes me a small fortune, but its fat now (obese in fact) and I've got no plans to sell..I've met quite a few folk now that say 'I'm gonna do this, do that, get it resprayed and put it up for sale after'!! Huh?! Why bother unless your a car restorer turning wrecks around and making £££'s

when i can get the cabby for next to nout needing few jobs and have a set of twin 40 carbs lying around so will owe me next to nout then a bargain for a classic vw lover

and if it was one i was going to keep id spend a lot more than a few quid repairing it
if i make a bit of profit it's all good

i just like bringing cars back to life
