Hi all, just had our Golf V5 2001 in for it's 100k service - engine light is on and diagnostic is a stretched timing chain. Not the best news as we know its one of the most involved jobs to have done!
Anyways - the car is pristine in every other way and we are looking for some quotes for the work doing. Not sure if it will be the top tensioner which has gone in which case it could be a more straighforward task or if it requires both top and bottom chains doing.
We have had some quite alarming quotes thus far and I just wondered if anyone else has any experience with these or can recommend a technician who does out of hours work or a fair specialist? We are in Leeds but within Yorkshire would be fine.
