Glovebox Handle
« on: 18 March 2005, 10:57 »
I was just getting out of the car and was checking to see if the glovebox was shut and i pulled the handle and then it stayed up? :embarassed:. Then? i tried it again and it broke off?. Now i cant get in to the glovebox.

Does anyone know how to get in a locked glovebox with no handle???

Thanks

Did the same to me, they are a week point of the car.

Just break the rest of the plastic with pliers that is part of the handle unit, you'll eventually be able to find the lever that attached to the handle which if you can manage to pull on, will open.  The rest of the handle can be removed once the glove box is open but don't through it away before you get a new one as you will need to extract the old lock barrel to fit in your new unit.

Yes, just break the clips holding the barrel in on the inside face, it should slide out and slide into the new one clipping into place.

i got some new ones today from GSF, ?30 for both. Could've got a complete glovebox from sanburn for ?20 but couldn't be bothered with taking out the whole thing. It only took about 2 minutes.

Good as new?
