Sorry no pictures, but looking from a picture i have seen it is very clean, with no rust and an excellent interior

Silver, 1988, One owner until last year, now a 2 owner car. FSH, no PAS but FFSR, EM, EW and headlamp wash + opening rear windows (was that an option or std). 115k miles

For me this is the right car: 3dr, 16v, small bumper, almost one owner (elderly) . My view is that this is a pretty rare car.  But enlighten me I have only been looking for the last few weeks.  Also it seems silver is rarer on the earlier cars ?

Yep silver is indeed a reasonably rare colour around the late 80's and early 90's strange really look at how many silver golfs are being churned out these days.
The electric windows would be standard on a 16v.
The electric mirrors, headlamp washers and pop-out rear windows would all be options. If all of these options are standard factory fit that could definately affect the value of the car, all three are very uncommon on such a car. If the bodywork is very straight and interior in good nick I would imagine the car would be worth in the order of ?1500
