Which Audi engine in my GTi??

  Hi Gang, can anyone tel me if an Audi 80 Sport 2.0 engine code (AAD) will fit in my '88 digi Gti (just been given a complete car hee hee!!) i have noticed that the fuel injection is k-jet and not digi,but wanted to know if i can use the 2.0 botttom end?? Also anyone got any idea of how much BHP increase before i get it bore out to 2100 and cam it etc. Whilst on the subject will i get any advantage in fitting the front brakes with 4 stud discs and if so which ones?? IIRC thats the 9a Engine isnt it?

I belive it will fit but you'll need a fair bit of KR bits and bat's as the engine isnt mounted the same as in the GTI. I'm sure the engines push out around 160brake is it... Dont quote me on that tho.

5 cylinder Audi engine won't fit but if its 4 cylinder, I reckon you're ok. Pretty sure the 2.0 litre was 4 cylinder unless JS code.....that was a very strong 5 cylinder 2L Audi engine

  sorry gang i forgot to mention that's it's a 4 pot not a 5. How do i know if it's 9a? and where do i look to find out if a AAD lump is a 9 etc??    can someone please explain it all?? I assume that i can't use the head as the digi injectors won't fit will they?? is it worth putting the 2.0 cam in my head if i can't use the audi head?? thanks again

as best i can recall all audi 80 sports where 4 pot. (we are talking about the old style audi 80 that looks a bit like a mk2 golf?)

if your engine is an AAD code then that is the code of your engine. A 9A is another 2.0 ltr engine like a 2E or an AGG.
your engine was fitted in the audi 80 between 1990 - 1991.

if you swap bottom ends over the engine will drop straight in    use the 2 ltr bottom end head gasket and plonk your PB head on top. not sure if your PB dizzy will fit the audi block tho. try the audi dizzy first tho i think it should be ok.

with regards to the cam i would get the bottom end fitted and get the engine set up and running hunky dory as you will proberly need to play with the timming. once its all set up then get your self a piper or kent cam with a vernier pully so that you can get the timming spot on.  and enjoy

16v bottom ends are different castings to 8v, something to do with the crankcase breather arrangement.

the engine in the audi if a 2.0 16v is a 6a and you'll need swap the oil pick up and sump over as they are different

so you want KR head, 6a block, KR sump and oil pickup
