Vagcom? Start the car with parking sensors on?
« on: 29 March 2011, 18:08 »
I don't know if this is something that can be done by Vagcom... or can even be done at all?

I'm usually parked on a driveway facing forward with a couple of other cars on it.  Sometimes (depending where the other cars are) it can be a tight squeeze to get out of - and the front sensors come in quite handy.
The only problem is that the sensors only come to life if I either put it in reverse first - or if I press the parking sensor switch.

Either way, the sensors only stay on till I get to about 15mph - then they switch themselves off.  Ideally I'd like them to be on when I start the car - as once I start moving and reach 15mph, they'll switch off anyway.

Another thing that'd be useful is if I could keep my reverse camera on when my parking sensors are on too.
When you put it into first from reverse - it stays on the screen for a second, then switches on.  When maneuvering into parking spaces it'd be quite handy to be able to see where the back of the car was - to make sure its inside the white lines!

My camera stops on even with the parking sensors on or do you mean when you drive forward? On the head unit theres also a tab to switch between camera and park assisit.

My above post was meant to say 'it stays on for a second, then switches OFF'.
As soon as I change from R to D, it turns the camera off within a second.  I guess a manual car would probably keep it on until the car moves though... like the dipping parking mirror!?
