Now there's a point - which memory card did you go for? I dont think I can afford / will need an SDXC, but I am thinking of getting a slightly faster SDHC than I already have, in a bigger size. Considering this;

Size isn't too crucial for me, as whilst I am away I am goign to download all my pictures every night and upload them to my NAS at home over the interweb, so will always have a fresh memory card each day.

watch out when you go for the high speed stuff, do you need class 10 as in can your camera write to it at 10MB/s will your camera buffer enough images to warrant this speed?

Personally I'd go with brand over speed, you might also want to check your manual to see if they recommend specific memory.

You'll probably find class 6 will be fine for stills, and maybe save you a few pennies too

Camera supports class 10 too - not sure what my memory card I am using at the moment is (4gb Kingston from my point and shoot), but I noticed when experimenting with burst mode that I was waiting for the buffer to write to the card before I could continue shooting, hence why I decided to look into a new one with a faster read/write speed.

The manual suggests Lexmar, Sandisk, Panasonic etc...

Forgot to add - I wanted something farily quick just incase I take any video on honeymoon (cough cough  ), and the 1080p 24fps was a bit jerky on my current memory card.

i opted for a sandisk sdhc 4gb i think. about a fiver from play.com.

should do the job until i know whether i need better.

I meant what's the maximum write speed to the card, for example mine supports UDMA meaning I could stick a 600x card in but it would be wasted as it only writes out around 27 MB/s opposed from the 90MB/s of 600x

If you're recording 1080p you'll want class6+ although you'll probably want 720p @ 60 fps for super smooth slow mo action 

I personally only use Lexar professional, but would consider sandisk as good, I use transcend in my HDHero, but doubt I'd trust a 'no name' for certain shoots.

Got the Collins book but doesn't seem that useful so I've ordered 'understanding exposure' vol. 3.
