Strange noise when braking

Now i was told a little while ago that the wheel bearing on the driver side rear wheel would need to be replaced,

Noticed the other that when i was braking there was a kind of 'wooob wooob wooob ' noise kind of like the wheel was loose or something, now checked the wheel and its not loose so i can only assume this is just a sign that the wheel bearing has gone and needs to be replaced?

Someone had also mentioned it could be the disk brakes are warped? this only happens when braking not when im driving along

Change the rear discs, pads and bearings, and see if it goes away.

think that will be the best bet, may as well do the mkiv caliper coversion while im at it and change the hose's as well

Don't change pads disks and bearings without proper diagnosis?!!! It might be just a bearing, or a dodgey corroded back plate. Jack each wheel and do some investigating individually until you locate the problem I'd say!!

well the bearings are getting done as i know for a fact they are gone / going was shown this when i went for a wheel alignment, just havent had the money to get it done

failign that ill change the pads, then disks

You could end up with a bigger headache when switching to mk4 calipers.

rusty metal brake lines but well worth the swap. Its wierd having a mk2 with a working handbrake that doesnt stick.

disks, bearings and pads are cheap and easy fix

If you are going to change the bearings, then you may as well do the discs and pads too.
Unless the brakes are new on the back.
You'll save yourself alot of time in the long run...
and don't go for mkiv, go for mk3 calipers, they are a straight swap.

Not sure when the last time the disks were changed on it tbh and if mk3 calipers are a straight swap might just do that instead!

As im finding with this car im generally replacing everything as i go along, but I dont really mind as I have the peace of midn that it has been done!

Personaly.

Drop the rear axel, change them bushes, new metal brake lines. Goodrich mk4 caliper banjo lines and mk4 calipers, new bearings and disks/pads.
